Winter heliotropes in Jan 2024

This is a Winter Heliotrope which is currently in bloom throughout the grass verges in Cornwall. They are a good source of nectar for bees and other pollinators, and they have a faint scent of vanilla.

However, this plant is invasive and will spread if left unmanaged, out-competing the established ground flora which is essential for the resident animals. If managed in well-controlled areas, it could prove beneficial.
